It appears as a free-roaming bug on the floor of the Tide Caverns. Players often report better luck on floors in the mid-to-upper 20s and 30s (especially around floors 27–37).

How to Catch the Coral Mantis

  1. Equip your Bug Net.
  2. Explore the Tide Caverns (floors 21–39).
  3. Look for it wandering on the ground — it does not hide inside rocks.
  4. Swing the net to catch it. Missing does not scare it away permanently.
  5. Tip: Breaking rocks and boxes in the area can help increase overall bug spawn rates. If you don’t see one, exit and re-enter the floor or move to a nearby floor and check again.

No special tools or weather conditions are required.

Quick Tips

  • The Coral Mantis is one of the easier uncommon mine insects once you unlock the Tide Caverns.
  • Keep a few extras if you plan to use terrariums for bait and pheromones.
  • It is not season- or weather-dependent, so you can hunt for it any day.

Once you donate one to the Museum, you’ll see Adeline comment on how pretty and pink it looks on display. Happy hunting!
