Control Resonant Weapons Guide (Pre-Launch Overview)

In Control Resonant, there are no firearms. Dylan Faden’s primary (and only) weapon is the Aberrant — a shapeshifting Object of Power that transforms into different melee forms.

The Aberrant System Explained

You equip three forms at the same time:

SlotRoleExamples
Primary FormBasic / light attacksDual Blades, Scythe, Axe
Secondary FormSpecial / charged / alternate attacksHammer, Drill, Whip
Combo EnderPowerful finishing move after a comboGauntlets, Spinning Blade

You can freely mix and match these forms to create different playstyles. Each form also has its own talent tree for further upgrades and specialized variants.

Confirmed Weapon Forms (So Far)

Primary Forms (starter choices include):

  • Flurry / Dual Blades — Fast attacks, high critical hit chance, excellent for aggressive single-target or rapid pressure
  • Slash / Scythe — Wide sweeping attacks, strong crowd control
  • Slice / Axe — High single-target damage, bonus damage from behind, solid combo potential

Secondary Forms:

  • Crush / Hammer — Slow but very high damage, strong for heavy hits and staggered enemies
  • Drill — Sustained single-target damage, builds a special gauge that increases damage and helps trigger Falter
  • Extend / Whip — Longer reach, good for mid-range attacks and weaving into combos

Combo Enders:

  • Gauntlets / Fists — Rapid finishing blows
  • Spinning Blade / Rotating Glaive — Leaves a spinning projectile that continues dealing damage or hits multiple enemies

Other forms mentioned across previews include variations of the above (hammer, scythe, blades, etc.). More forms unlock as you progress.

How Weapon Choice Affects Playstyle

  • Fast / Crit builds → Dual Blades + high-crit secondary + rapid ender
  • Crowd control → Scythe primary + wide-reaching secondary
  • Heavy single-target → Axe or Hammer-focused setups
  • Mid-range / hybrid → Whip secondary for spacing

Some enemies have vulnerabilities or armor that favor specific damage types or attack styles, so swapping forms (and Artifacts) for tough encounters is encouraged.

Key Notes

  • Forms can be changed in the menu once unlocked.
  • Upgrades and new specialized variants are handled in The Gap.
  • The Aberrant has visual flair — it transforms dramatically with each attack and often flings physics objects.

This information is based on hands-on previews and official details as of September 2026. The full roster of forms and their exact talent trees will be clearer after the game launches on September 24.
