How to Fish (Steam) – Giant Piranha Bait, Leech Quest, Boss Fight & Tail/Skeleton

This is a key mid-game progression step on Island 2. Completing it unlocks Island 3. The sequence is: collect Leeches → convert them into special bait → fight the Giant Piranha → collect its Skeleton/Tail → hand it in.

1. Leech Quest (Get the Giant Piranha Bait)

Leeches are ground pickups, not fish you catch with a rod.

Steps:

1. Talk to the woman/NPC near the shop on Island 2. She starts the quest (shows 0/3 Leeches).
2. Search the island ground carefully — walk the perimeter, check near vegetation, props, and open areas. Keep the camera low.
3. Pick up 3 Leeches (some reports mention 5 in certain builds, but 3 is the standard requirement).
4. Return to the same NPC and hand them in (complete the 3/3).
5. She converts them into the special Leech-based bait used to spawn the Giant Piranha.

Important tips:

• Do not keep fishing or buying regular lures — the counter only moves from ground pickups.
• If fewer than 3 appear, thoroughly re-scan the island (they can be easy to miss).
• Once you have the converted bait, stop collecting more Leeches.

2. Prepare & Trigger the Boss

• Eat food / prepare health and inventory before using the bait.
• Equip reliable ranged damage (the 150 Shotgun is frequently recommended if combat is giving you trouble; prioritize it over some mobility upgrades if needed).
• Use the special Leech bait. This spawns the Giant Piranha (health bar appears).

3. Giant Piranha Boss Fight

• Focus pressure on the boss rather than chasing every smaller creature that appears.
• Stay mobile and use ranged attacks.
• Keep healing/eating as needed.
• Once the Giant Piranha dies, do not leave immediately.

4. Collect the Tail / Skeleton & Unlock Island 3

1. Pick up the Giant Piranha Skeleton (also referred to as the Tail in some contexts) that drops.
2. Bring the Skeleton back to the quest NPC on Island 2.
3. Hand it in.
4. Receive the Flash Drive containing coordinates to Island 3.
5. Check your Radar and follow the new direction to unlock/travel to Island 3.

Critical note: Killing the boss alone does not unlock Island 3. You must collect the Skeleton and complete the hand-in.

This chain is a major progression gate. Once you finish it you gain access to the next island and its content. If Leeches are not spawning, re-sweep the entire Island 2 ground area carefully or restart the session. Good luck with the boss!
