Location & How to Unlock
Main Method (Recommended):
- Progress through the story until you reach the Miskatonic University Library and continue into the Annex.
- Push the cabinet aside and enter the back room to meet the translator.
- After the cutscene, search deeper in the room. You will find an already-open ERC crate.
- Pick up the ERC Activation Handle (or Activator Pen) and the related user manual.
- Return to the library reception area on the first floor.
- Use the Activation Handle on the locked Emergency Relief Crate you passed earlier.
- Open the crate to receive Voss’s Compensator.
Alternative / Extended Route Notes:
- You may need to deal with Slither enemies.
- Some paths involve unlocking shortcuts and solving bookshelf sections using handwheels.
- Once you have the Activator Pen/Handle, return to the crate and open it.
Uses
- Primary Benefit: Improves handgun performance (reduces recoil / improves control and accuracy).
- Makes the pistol more reliable during tense encounters, especially when targeting weak points.
